Fall Fashion Week 2014 is upon us. During these hectic runway weeks and the days leading up to them, it almost seems that designers are in competition over “who can make the highest, most uncomfortable heel?” The models wearing them often leave fashion week with bruises, scars and scrapes from falling or enduring shoes that are two sizes too small. Reportedly, some designers like Marc Jacobs, have even gone so far as to glue their models’ feet into their shoes to ensure they walk the runway with no incidents.
But what price do these models pay for enduring runway walks in stilettos? While the heels are certainly trendy and often make fashion statements, they can actually cause harm to the body.
