The cut will be secured and out of site. Because the side you are cutting slips right into the belt buckle. This lever to release the mission belt is well designed. They thought of every detail when they designed and made this belt. 

The only thing I personally would do to this belt different!! would to have some fashion belt buckles for us ladies. I notice they have a pink and gold one on their site!! I would have liked to review those one's, Because what is the first thing people see when they look at your belt? Yes, Right the belt buckle ;) I wear a lot of belts. I like my belt buckles to stand out a bit :) I tend to think the mission belt Company designs these Fabulous belts and buckles more for the Guys!! But never the less they are a very trendy and fashionable, and very durable!! And useful in the way they look and the way they are designed to work!! So as they move forward with their new belt designs. I'm sure they will come out with many for all your family members. 

I also want to review their Leather Belts to see how well they wear. This mission belt is stitched together.. what looks like a straight running stitch. And the nylon webbing material seems to be stitched down also. Possible Glued and doubled stitched!! Makes it much stronger!!
