Lana is 7 years old. During Covid-19 when schools were closed, she tried to keep herself busy at home.
Her mom encouraged her to find creative means for fun outside of watching TV, and using devices. So she did what any kid would do, she grabbed a stack of paper and crayons and started doodling.
Then, she started writing a story, but before she could draw the images to the story, her sister Laila (who is special needs) started doodling on the pages she wrote her stories on... Lana was so excited to see Laila enjoying her stories. She immediately ran to her mom and insisted her mom witness Laila interacting with her. This was the day Lana created zigglebee. Lana and Laila are twin sisters.
They were born on September 5, 2014. Laila was born with a condition called Jacobsen Syndrome...This condition causes Laila to have developmental delays which impair her ability to eat, talk, walk, and interact with other people...including her twin sister, Lana.
Lana has discovered she connect with Laila through imagery and storytelling. This book was designed by Lana and inspired by Laila's Gift to encourage engagement through the arts. To learn more about the great cause behind Laila's Gift visit
This book is a testament that no matter what challenges we face, art is a universal way to communicate and motivate creative thinking. Imagination is an important concept for children to tap into. The blank canvas in this book, along with Lana’s storytelling will enable kids all over the world to connect, and communicate through art. For each book purchased, proceeds will go towards Jacobsen Syndrome research.
